I'm excited to introduce eSignal 10.5, our biggest release of the 10 series. There's a ton of new content such as extended intraday data, Hot Lists, Sector Lists and more. In addition, key performance improvements have been made for multi-core systems. Read on for more details!
eSignal
Version 10.5.1656
Size: 43.8Mb
http://www.esignal.com/download
Release Notes
----------------------------------------
Extended Intraday History
We have extended our historical database in eSignal 10.5. This dramatically increases the amount of available intraday data way beyond the previous limits. This new service allows you to access 12+ years of minute-based bar data for North American equities and indices and 2+ years of North American, European and Asian futures, Forex and treasuries.
This is an especially great boon to those back testers who need large amounts of historical data to track the performance of their strategies across all types of market patterns and conditions. Additionally, support and resistance lines can now be established with a greater degree of accuracy, given that the recent market contraction has pulled back into levels not seen in many years.

Hot Lists
New to eSignal 10.5 are Hot Lists, powerful pre-built scans that look through the markets to identify the best trading opportunities and update them automatically every 30 seconds. There are the traditional gainers, losers and volume lists here but also unique scans, such as Unusual Volume, Most Volatile and Trade Rate Hot Lists, the last of which displays the fastest-trading stocks in the previous minute. This allows a momentum trader to see what is moving right now and react accordingly.

Sector Lists
The ability to list what symbols are in specific sectors is a powerful way to create specialized watch lists; this can now be done in eSignal 10.5 with just a few clicks. Much like an Autolist, the new Sector Lists will insert symbols into a quote window for additional sorting and analysis.

New Data Fields
In addition to adding numerous lists, we’re also adding 50+ new data fields, such as Short Interest, Float, 12 Month % Total Return, % Insider Owned, 200-Day Moving Average and many more.
Global Portfolio Window
The portfolio window has long been a staple for eSignal clients wanting to track both the short- and long-term performance of their accounts. From the eSignal Pro side, money managers will often have multiple client accounts spread across multiple portfolio windows. In eSignal 10.5, there is now a way to compare the totals of multiple portfolio windows.
The new Global Portfolio Window automatically lists the key statistics of each portfolio in a window that can be placed anywhere on your PC’s display. In addition, a quick click on the name of the portfolio will bring that window into focus for further analysis.

Multi-Threading Support
We’ve taken the first step toward multi-threading eSignal by making Basic Studies and Advanced GET Studies run on their own thread. This should dramatically lower the number of times eSignal will freeze or lock during high volume periods by spreading the load of calculating technical indicators across multiple processor cores. For power users who are using many studies on a multi-core PC, this will have a very significant effect on the overall performance of eSignal.
MA of Studies
Although it’s been possible via EFS for a long time, it’s now much easier to create a moving average of a study. When adding a moving average, you’ll want to click on the “Source” drop-down menu and choose the “Study” sub-menu. From there, you’ll be able to choose from any of our Basic Studies and create your MA of RSI, MACD, Volume, etc.
In the chart shown below, you’ll see that there’s an MA of an MA in the price area. In the study areas, there’s an MA of an RSI overlaid and scaled to the RSI; likewise, there’s an MA of a stochastic on top of a stochastic.

Shared Symbol Lists
eSignal can now tap into a new server that saves symbol lists remotely. This enables users to keep synchronized lists of stocks, futures, etc. from one page to another page or even from one PC to another. For instance, you could research your watchlist of symbols at night at your home PC and then have those same symbols on your work PC the following morning. Managing these lists is done via the quote window menu.
We are also working toward migrating many of our other products into this same server technology so that those using eSignal’s wireless companion product, QuoTrek, can synchronize their symbol lists between the PC and their mobile devices.
Forward / Yield Curves
This window type is used by futures traders and broad market analysts to look at comparative data across multiple futures contracts. The Yield Curve is typically used to verify the “shape” of the economy…quite literally, actually. If a normal yield curve is present, long-term investors are rewarded with a higher rate of return, and short-term bonds will be a lower yield. When an inverted yield curve is present (higher yields for near-term), the market at large is in an unusual state, and a cautionary approach when investing is warranted.
Forward Curve charts provide the user with the ability to view pricing on forward contracts for commodities. Forward curves can act as unbiased predictors and allow the user to better see where the market is trending.

Snap Quote Bar
One of simplest ideas turns out to be one of the more useful…the Snap Quote Bar displays the quote for the symbol you type into it. It’s treated much like a standard toolbar and can be placed along the top or bottom of eSignal. It can even be free-floating to be put anywhere on your computer’s display.
The data fields can also be fully customized so that the exact data you want to be displayed is there at your fingertips. In addition, the symbol linking box is fully functional, allowing you to type a symbol into multiple windows at the same time you are getting a quote.

Enhancements
----------------------------
Style Templates for All Windows
All windows within eSignal now have the ability to save their settings as different style templates. This enables you to take a specific setup of colors, fonts, fields, etc. and apply it to other existing windows without having to repeat the same setup process for each window.
Renaming Windows
eSignal’s layout feature has allowed the renaming of windows for a long, long time…even before the “e” was added to eSignal. When Pages were introduced, one of the items of contention was that the windows themselves couldn’t be given a custom name to identify them in a unique way; that all changes with eSignal 10.5. With a quick menu selection (under File), you can change the name of practically any window type within a page.
Further Enhancements / Fixes
----------------------------------------------
- Symbol Search window has been streamlined to use less space, menus and features have been compacted into one line.
- Symbol count on the status bar now reflects the number of symbols being counted against your symbol count versus the total number of symbols entered into eSignal. The difference is the number of symbols that are in hibernation.
- A new selection under Advanced Chart Properties is available called “Use Settlement for Daily Charts”. If this is unchecked, then the last price will be used instead of the settlement. Please note that this feature only affects symbols that have large trading periods after the settle is released such as DAX, GB futures.
- It is now possible to reset your Paper Trading account under Trade -> eSignal Paper Trade -> Reset All
- Price Ruler is now formating based on the underlying symbol
- Candlestick charts will now default to using thin wicks
- Splits labels on Advanced Charts have been improved to more clearly point to the actual day
- Distance lines have been added to Fibonacci Retracement and Extension tools
- It is now possible to show / hide grid lines via Advanced Chart Properties
- Advanced Chart Properties have been reworked to fit better into smaller resolutions
- Path information has been removed from the cursor window for EFS studies
- Intervals "S", "V", "R" and "P" [without a number] now correctly return Invalid Interval.
- Quote Board Thermometer Outline can now be colored separately from the thermometer itself
- Volume is no longer overflowing when greater ~2.1 billion
- Start time of chart data no longer exceeds Time Template setting
- Market Profile no longer applies Settlement to next trade date session
- Vertical offset in Advanced Chart is now working correctly
- Market Profile is now handling intervals greater than 30 much more consistently
- Portfolio window's Title has been improved for Layouts

I’m excited to announce the immediate availability of eSignal 10.4 today on the eSignal Download Page. With this comes some great features and enhancements and of special importance is the launch of a new eSignal OnDemand product directly aimed at Forex traders.
----------------------------------------------
eSignal OnDemand – Forex
We’ve added two features for a Forex version of our new eSignal OnDemand product. eSignal OnDemand – Forex allows users to choose to receive real-time data for one Forex contributor of their choice via the File -> Preferences, Forex Contributor tab. This product also has the ability to receive both delayed snapshot and real-time data at the same time.
Area Charts
In the past few years, the popularity of the Area Chart has grown significantly as a way to easily view general market trend. It can also be compressed into a tight space while its high contrast nature still makes the chart easily readable.
The 4 choices of area chart styles mostly have to do with color choices. The default, single-gradient color is one color that lightens / darkens to highlight the peaks of a trend. A second choice is the multiple-gradient chart, for which you can choose more than one color (seen to the right). There’s also a single-color choice, as well as a new histogram style chart.

Enhanced Hibernation
Previously, in eSignal 10.3, symbols that were hibernating were completely unsubscribed from receiving any updates from our servers and a “Hibernated” message was displayed in the Quote Window. There is now a new color scheme for symbols that are in hibernation. Instead of hiding the data, we are now displaying the last quote we have and updating this data once every 5 minutes in the background. This leads to even further savings because only those symbols that are visible are subscribed to for real-time data.
As seen in the screenshot shown below, as I scroll down my list of symbols, the symbols in hibernation are nearly grayed out. When I let go of the mouse button, all visible symbols are immediately subscribed, and the data begins flowing in again.

Percentage Scale
In eSignal 10.4, you now have the ability to display a new type of price scale based on the percentage move. To activate this new scaling option, click on Advanced Chart -> Scaling -> Percentage Scale. This will change the price display along the Y-axis to show the percent change based on the left-most bar. As the chart is moved left / right or zoomed in / out, the scale will automatically adjust to show the new values.
Paper Trading with Tick Replay
Paper trading plays a big part in learning how to trade. You can now practice with simulated live data using the Tick Replay feature in eSignal. To do this, click on Tools -> Tick Replay -> Tick Downloader to download the data set you want to practice on. Then, head to Tools -> Tick Replay -> Replay Tick File to begin reliving that trading day for that symbol.
From there you can use the paper trading features built into eSignal, such as Trading from Charts or the Attached Order Ticket.
VWAP Calculator
Under the Tools menu is a new calculator that allows the user to get a VWAP value when certain dates / times are specified. One can also apply size filters to include or exclude trades of a given size to estimate where certain trading groups are putting their money into the market. That is to say, one can determine what the VWAP would be if large block trades are removed or if only large block trades are used. Alternatively, the Weekly VWAP could be generated with this tool, which is a nice way to see what the average price was for the week.
Time & Sales – Filter by Condition
A new filter choice is available for locating trades by condition. The filter can be a partial entry of the condition, such that “ext” would result in all “ExtHours” trades showing in the Time & Sales window.
---------------------------------------------
Enhancements / Corrections
Time & Sales – Trade Coloration for Single-Sided Quotes
Some exchanges send quotes without a matching pair, and previously, eSignal was having difficulty determining what the trade coloring should be under certain conditions. eSignal 10.4 corrects this flaw, and trade coloration is now working as expected.
For more information about additional enhancements and corrections, please refer to the readme.txt file in your eSignal directory.

Hello all,
Last evening we released a new version of eSignal 10.3 that addresses some critical items relating to connectivity on high-latency Internet connections (satellite, international, etc.) and EFS compatibility items. Please visit the eSignal Download Page to update your software to the latest version of eSignal.
For those that haven't checked out 10.3 yet, below is a high-level summary of this release.
-----------------------------------------
eSignal
Version 10.3 (build 1491)
Size: 37.2Mb
http://www.esignal.com/download
New Features
Trading from the Charts
On the Advanced Chart toolbar resides two new buttons… a Buy and a Sell button. These simply allow you to place orders directly from the charts. In the image on the right, the position is long 1 contract of the E-Mini S&P at 914.25. With a single click, one can place a stop or target level.

Any of these orders can be adjusted by a simple drag and drop. For instance, to move my stop to break even, one can simply grab it and drag it to the position line. Likewise, any pending order can be cancelled by clicking on the “X” and any position can be closed at the market price by clicking on the “X” on position line.
All the default order sizes, types and bracket styles can be customized within the trade management section of eSignal, which enables you to quickly place exactly the order you want, when you want and as fast as possible once the trade decision has been made.
Hibernation
Data hibernation is the ability for the eSignal application to put symbols to sleep that aren’t being used. For example, if you had a Quote Window that had 120 symbols on it, but only 30 lines long, then you will only receive data for those 30 symbols. 90 of those symbols will be hibernated until the point in which they become visible on your screen. This can dramatically lower the amount of data being processed by eSignal and being downloaded from the eSignal servers.
The data hibernation algorithm implements many safeguards to ensure that your usage of eSignal is not impacted by this change. First, if any symbols exist in Advanced Charts, they are never hibernated. This is important because of the processing of EFS files may still need this data. Second, if any alerts are set, those symbols are never hibernated. Likewise, if global alerts are turned on then the user has the choice to either alert only on visible symbols or all symbols, the latter of which would disable hibernation.
Drag and Drop
The ability to simply move one column in a Quote Window to a new location is now possible. To do this, click and hold down your left mouse button on the column header you wish to move. Now move your mouse to a new location and then release your left mouse button, and the original column will move to that new location. In that same way, you can move symbols from one row on a Quote Window to another row or from one Quote Window to another Quote Window, however you will need to click on the outside portion of the cell to move the symbol.

One other aspect to drag and drop is that it is now possible to drag a symbol from a Quote Window into a chart in order to view that symbol’s trading history. While this feature already exists via symbol linking, this additional method allows you to quickly assign a symbol to a chart that is not symbol linked.
Option Chain Enhancements
For options traders, we have a number of enhancements available in eSignal 10.3. First off, the month filter now allows for the selection of multiple months. If you trade right around expiration time, this is invaluable to see the next month’s options and how they’re stacking up against the near month. In addition, a new drop-down has been added to filter for the symbols that are in the month, out of the money or near the money.
A few other enhancements to this window include new option type and strike price columns, a new viewing style to include Calls and Puts on the same side of the window and Style Templates are now available. For futures options traders, this window has been made much more useful by the inclusion of selectable expiration months and the always useful snapshot mode, which puts the window into a special state that allows the symbols not to count against your overall symbol count.
Enhancements / Corrections
Numerous other enhancements and corrections have been included in this release. Over 100 in all!
For more information about these improvements, please refer to the readme.txt file in your eSignal directory.

I'm pleased to announce the release of eSignal 10.2. This version brings forth new features and enhancements as well as delivering on the continued promise of increased performance and stability. For a high level summary of 10.2 features, please see the below feature list.
Download today!
http://www.esignal.com/download
Note: Due to continued increases in market volumes, we have adjusted our system requirements for all eSignal 10.2 products. These can be viewed on the eSignal download page.
New Features
Forex Window
Designed specifically for currency traders, the new Forex Window displays currency data in a functional, space-efficient and visually pleasing way. It highlights the significant digits in quotes as well as showing the flags for the countries that represent each side of the cross-rate contract. Drag and drop is also included.

Performance Optimizations
As market volumes continue to rise, it is even more vital that eSignal be further streamlined to perform well during peak volume periods. Incoming streaming data processing has been optimized in this version. In addition, numerous crashes/bugs have been addressed.
Split Labels and Back-adjusted Intraday Charts
A long awaited improvement to eSignal! All Advanced Charts now display a marker at the bottom of the chart to denote when a split took place. In addition, all intraday charts are now back-adjusted based on the split ratio. This is done locally via a configuration file, and can be disabled via Chart Properties.

Improved Symbol Search Window
Easier to use interface allows users to get the information they need faster and more intuitively. Loads all found symbols into the search results space and allows those results to be easily sorted and exported to various eSignal windows.
Streamline Trading Integration
The Trade Manager window has been reworked to provide a more space-efficient view that better matches a typical trader’s needs. The Account Manager has replaced the legacy Broker Window and has been moved to the Trade menu, a more intuitive location for its function.
Morningstar Reports*
Includes detailed analyst reports on more than 2,000 mutual funds, as well as analyst picks, stewardship grades, fund family scores, and much more. Get in-depth ETF Analyst Reports, consider buying and selling prices, and expected return figures for dozens of well-known and niche ETFs; over 150 Exchange Traded Funds are covered.
* eSignal Pro Accounts only

Full Enterprise Server Support
The Enterprise Server is an on-site server which resides between the eSignal server farm and client to serve as a consolidated connection / distribution point for the eSignal desktop applications. eSignal 10.2 will fully support this high-impact institutional winner.
In-Band Ping
This provides invaluable tools designed to detect latency throughout the data pathways. A packet of data is sent from our ticker plant that is populated with a time stamp at each hop within our systems, enterprise server and various localized components. It is then sent back up through those same systems for analysis and logging.
News Manager Optimization
This streamlines the performance of the News Manager window, which will improve the experience for our heavy users of news services.
SingleBook Odd-lot Filter
The Single Book tab of the Market Depth window automatically filters out an odd lot order. This is defined as an order that is not divisible by 100. This is a togglable feature appearing in the Market Depth Properties called "Show Odd Lot Orders" and the default is checked.
Horizontal Line Label
Advanced Charts have a new way to display support and resistance directly on the chart. When a horizontal line is drawn, a user can add a new label to the chart that displays the value of that line. The label can be placed in a variety of locations based on the user preferences.

We are very excited to announce the launch of this new version of eSignal. This vital update not only brings new features such as an improved trade and account management system, but also focuses on significant performance improvements. We are anticipating a lot of buzz about 10.1, because it really does make a huge difference in speed and reliability.
Head on over to the eSignal Download Page to grab your copy of 10.1 or read on for more info about it.
What’s New
One of the great new features of eSignal 10.1 is the new Trade Manager and Account Manager windows. These powerful tools augment our existing integrated trading with a powerful single-click trade ladder and account monitoring tools including bracket orders and support for more than 12 popular online brokers.

For Advanced GET subscribers, the Dashboard can now be customized to display the chart intervals needed by the trader, and allows the placement of any amount of gauges per row (up to 100 per page.) The ability to customize the Dashboard brings some exciting possibilities to the table. A user can now compress the charts they need into one efficient, compact area in their pages or layouts.

Popular in the commodity markets, global weather maps have also been added (available in the final 10.1 release.) Commodity traders will appreciate the real-time weather maps, and they can choose from multiple weather map packages, covering areas all over the globe including U.S. Agriculture, U.S. Energy, Europe Energy, and World Coffee Crop.

Performance Improvements
Active traders need a workstation that performs under the pressures of high volume periods. eSignal 10.1 has now been optimized to handle the large influx of trades during a Fed announcement or other similar broad market event that sends your portfolio into a high volatility period. This is often the time traders need eSignal the most and eSignal 10.1 is much better equipped to handle this now by partial support of multi-threading technology and a dramatically improved server infrastructure based on multi-core, 64-bit data centers.
A lower memory footprint, faster start-up times and better responsiveness are just a sampling of some of the performance improvements that eSignal 10.1 brings. For those that use tick data in their analysis, both Time & Sales and tick-based charting intervals (i.e. 133T, 5000V) have been sped up a substantial amount as well. With the ability to control the hours of tick-based charts, users have much more control over their charts now too.

While this new version of eSignal is a tremendous boost to performance, this is only the beginning. Future versions of eSignal will continue to have further operation enhancements and be better suited to utilize some of the latest advances in technologies including full multi-threading support, 64-bit processing and a more robust user interface.
